Colin Senior

Mr Senior is a consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with a specialist interest in shoulder surgery and is the lead trauma surgeon for Dorset County Hospital.
Mr Senior Qualified in 1998 from Nottingham Medical School. Following his general surgical training in some of the leading specialist centres in London, he gained his fellowship to the Royal College of surgeons (FRCS Tr and Ortho.) Mr Senior has then completed his higher surgical training locally in the Wessex region, spending time at Southampton, Winchester, Poole, Bournemouth and at Dorset County Hospital.
In 2008 Mr Senior was awarded a sought after Fellowship overseas and spent a year in Auckland working at one of New Zealand’s largest hospitals where he gained a wide experience in arthroplasty, shoulder and trauma surgery.
Mr Senior has a general orthopaedic practice specialising in degenerative joint conditions, sports injuries and trauma of both the upper and lower limb. He uses keyhole surgery (arthroscopy) to treat a variety of shoulder and knee conditions. This is a minimally invasive way of performing procedures such as shoulder decompression, shoulder stabilisation and meniscal and cartilage knee surgery. Mr Senior has a keen interest and vast experience in joint replacements for degenerative conditions such as arthritis.
As the lead consultant in trauma and fracture surgery, Mr Senior regularly attends both local and national conferences ensuring best practice and the use of the most up to date implants.
Mr Senior has presented research papers both nationally and international and has had several papers published in leading orthopaedic publications.
